To celebrate the release of the first photo report compiling the results of our ADM field research — ADM: Asia’s Own Unhinged Club Culture (by Soi48) — we present the second installment of our four-part Soi48 party series: Vol.62 “Pattaya’s Dangerous Night.”
For this edition, we welcome Thailand’s legendary DJ Ball, visiting Japan for the first time from the resort city of Pattaya. A pioneer of Saiyor, Thailand’s original dance music that evolved from the beloved national rhythm 3 Cha (Sam Cha), DJ Ball has been a central figure since the genre’s early days. Today, Saiyor has become an essential rhythm in Thailand’s contemporary music scene, embraced by rappers and musicians such as YOUNGOHM and many others. Blending seamlessly with other genres, Saiyor continues to evolve as a vital form of Thai dance music that every fan should know.
DJ Ball’s energetic and vibe-filled DJ style has earned him passionate support from industrial workers in Chonburi and women working in Pattaya’s nightlife scene. Distinct from Bangkok’s urban club circuit, his performances embody a unique entertainment culture rooted in Thailand’s working-class and coastal communities. Under the theme “Pattaya’s Dangerous Night,” this event invites you to experience the raw grooves of suburban Thailand right here in Shinjuku.
The lineup features Soi48, YOUNG-G, MMM, and RICH & BUSY, all gearing up for their upcoming OMK Manila performance. Joining them are HR.STICKO & MORKHAEN AYUMU, whose recent release on Bonsai Records remains fresh in memory. Their live session—merging rap and the traditional khaen—will intertwine the sounds of Japan’s Senshu region and Thailand’s Isan, capturing the dynamism of musical migration and transformation.
Additionally, on Saturday, November 8, we will host “ONE MEKONG MEETING 2568: Thailand Research Report.” Experience Soi48’s uniquely Thai-inspired programming directly on the dance floor.
■ DJ BALL
Hailing from Chonburi, a coastal city in eastern Thailand along the Gulf of Thailand, DJ Ball has been active since the early days of Saiyor—Thailand’s original dance music that evolved from the beloved national rhythm Sam Cha (3 Cha).
His energetic, vibe-driven DJ style has earned passionate support from industrial workers in Chonburi and women working in Pattaya’s nightlife, establishing a unique form of entertainment distinct from Bangkok’s mainstream club scene.
During the pandemic, when clubs were forced to close, DJ Ball gained nationwide attention through livestream DJ sets infused with witty, charismatic MCing that repeatedly went viral. By linking these streams with TikTok, he turned them into one of Thailand’s most influential online party platforms.
Today, DJ Ball runs his own DJ school, where he trains aspiring DJs and dancers, while continuing his work as a music producer pushing the Saiyor sound forward.
